Jeffery Nelms is a 2006 outfielder with a 5'10'', 165 lb. frame from Stone Mountain, GA, who attends Southwest DeKalb HS. He is a lean and athletic player with good speed and quickness. He ran one of the best sixty times (6.74) at the event, and showed his speed on the bases and in the outfield. Defensively he covers a ton of ground in the outfield showing instincts and a quick first step. He also has a strong arm that will allow him to play any of the three outfield spots. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a line drive swing plane. Nelms has good bat speed through the hitting zone, and he makes consistently solid contact to all fields. He has the ability to make adjustments with his hands which will help him hit for a high average at the next level. Nelms is a good hitter, and he will also make things happen on the bases. He is an athletic player with good upside.
