Jacob Constante is a LHP with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Santo Domingo, DOM who attends Prerodae HS. Older Dominican southpaw with a big, physical mature build, has very long arms. Simple leg raise delivery, compact high arm circle, arm works well with little tension at release, high 3/4's to over the top slot, not consistent on release point. Plus fastball velocity at times, topped out at 94 mph, cut fastball at 89 mph was an outstanding pitch, commanded cutter much better than straight fastball, threw cutter with intent. Outstanding curveball with velocity and hard spin, threw some plus present curveballs, throws thru break at times for more of a slider effect. Developing change up he wasn't afraid of throwing, good arm speed, just needed better location. Three pitches that flash present plus in fastball, cutter and curveball, needs lots of work on consistency and command but tools are obvious. Signed with the Reds for $735,000 a few weeks after the showcase.
