Luis Ramos is a 2014 RHP/OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Vega Alta, PR who attends Puerto Rico Baseball Academy. Lean athletic build, strong lower half. Pitches from a three quarter arm slot, long loose arm action, arm works well. Long backside to delivery, gets online, good extension, good backside push, uses lower half well. Tailing action on fastball isn't big but it is late and hard, uses downhill leverage to create sink. Smooth and under control throughout delivery, loses a couple mph from the stretch, very good control, not quite there with his feel from left to right commanding fastball but consistently kept it down in the zone. Good 12-6 shape on curveball, inconsistent release but shows good potential. Deceptive changeup, maintains arm speed well on it, good fading action, throws it for strikes, if he can develop command and feel for it the pitch has plus potential and is not far off. Works quickly and challenges hitters, has an idea how to pitch. Interesting prospect to follow. Good student.
