Gabriel Chavez is a 2015 2B/SS, RHP with a 5-4 130 lb. frame from West Covina, CA who attends South Hills. Small athletic build. Chavez is a player who is likely to be overlooked because of his physical stature, but he plays with an intensity that allows him to do things on the field that you wouldn't expect. High energy defender, refusal to give up on plays adds a half of a step to his range. Light on his feet, quick defensive actions, short arm action quick release time, sure hands, accurate throws, quick feet, made several very good plays in games. Short to the ball, spread stance, contact oriented approach, line drive plane, quick hands, consistent contact, puts the ball in play. Hustles in all phases of the game, scrappy ballplayer. Good student.
