Gary (Randy) Bishop is a 2008 RHP with a 6'1'', 210 lb. frame from Semmes, AL who attends Faith Academy. He has a powerful, broad shouldered build with limited projection. Bishop has a full delivery and a very long, extended arm action in back. He tends to rush through his delivery and his arm drags behind, creating strain on his shoulder. Staying more compact will help his stuff and consistency. Bishop has plenty of arm speed at release and threw up to 91 mph, although his fastball was pretty straight. His curveball was 74 mph and suffered from his rushing to the plate and was pretty loose. He also mixed in a couple of change ups. We've seen Bishop throw better and harder in the past and it looked like he was pressing a bit. Bishop is a good athlete and his power arm is something to watch in the outfield. He has a power approach at the plate with a big uppercut swing and plus raw power. He has the potential to be a power/power two-way guy at the college level and his arm strength plays anywhere.

Gary Bishop is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'1" 205 lb frame from Semmes, AL who attends Faith Academy. Named to Top Prospect Team. Gray has a strong athletic build and showed highest-level two-way potential at the showcase. On the mound Gary has a power pitcher approach with a long arm action and a high effort delivery. He uses his lower half well and shows the making of a nice change-up. His backside will collapse at times on the mound and there is a lot of room for Gary to improve mechanically and still possibly pick up velocity. At the plate Gary has an aggressive approach and shows good bat speed and power potential. The ball leaves his bat well, but Gary appears as if he could loosen up a little in the box. In the outfield Gary has outstanding tools. He showed off the best arm strength of any outfielder at the event to go along with high-level speed. Gary is a little raw in terms of baseball tools but his potential is unlimited. He should be a highest-level college prospect that could also attract some draft attention.

Gary Bishop is a 2008 RHP/OF with a 6'1'', 195 lb. frame from Semmes AL, who attends Faith Academy. Named to the Top Prospect Team at the event. Bishop has a strong and mature frame with present strength. On the mound he has an online and balanced delivery with good arm speed. His present arm strength topped out at 90 mph with late life. Bishop used all of his pitches effectively mixing in a sharp curveball at 73 mph and an 80 mph changeup. Showed great mound presence and has great upside. Has two-way talent with bat speed at the plate. The ball jumps off his bat showing raw power, and he can drive the ball with authority. Takes an aggressive swing, yet stays balanced with great leverage at the point of contact. Defensively he has plus arm strength from the outfield (91 mph) and moves well for a player of his size and strength. Bishop is a two-way talent with great upside who is a must follow. He is also a good student.
