Landers is a slender 6-1, 165 lb infielder from Houston. He ran the 60 in 7.60 and threw 78 mph during infield drills. Landers does a good job of making the routine play defensively and has an accurate throwing arm. Offensively, Landers hits from a flat footed stance with little lower half involvement. He has quick, strong hands for his build and has some late bat speed. His power and ability to drive the ball would improve with better lower half swing mechanics. Landers also pitched twice in relief, showing a 78-80 mph fastball and 67 mph curveball from a deliberate delivery and a smooth arm action. Landers is also a very good student.

Tyler Landers is a 2006 third baseman/right handed pitcher from Houston, TX, with a lean athletic build and long legs at 6-1 165 lbs. Defensively, he has good hands with a loose accurate throwing arm. He topped out at 77 mph across the infield and he will gain arm strength as he matures. He hits from an upright square stance with a short load and short stride to start his swing. His swing follows a longer lofted plane and he has a high finish. He makes solid contact and shows gap level power with home run potential in the future. His fastball topped at 78 mph from a ¾ arm slot and a long arm action. He also showed a decent slurve that was 65 mph with 10-4 rotation. His change was pretty straight at 68 mph. He has a lean projectable frame and he will be a very intersting prospect to watch over the next year. Tyler is a good student.

Tyler Landers -- Landers is a 6-1 sophomore infielder from Texas with a very projectable body. He has long, smooth actions in the field and good arm strength for a young player. With his growth potential, speed and actions, Landers probably profiles best at third base. At the plate, Landers hits out of a tall no load, no stride stance with a short downward line drive swing. As he gets bigger and stronger, Landers is going to want to start using his lower body more and get some extension in order to loft the ball. Landers also threw 3 innings and showed some good things. He throws from a low ¾’s release point off a very hard front leg, which robs him of plenty of velocity. But Landers still threw 78 mph with an easy arm action and had a 67 mph curveball that had very good, hard biting action frequently. Tyler has a chance to develop into a "06" draft pick. Keep an eye on him.
