Bret Smith is a 2015 LHP/1B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Nederland, TX who attends Nederland HS. Thick athletic build, very strong for age. Leg raise delivery with some back turn, stays balanced and on line well, compact high arm action, tight 3/4's release point, pulls head off plate on release. Mid 70's fastball, topped out at 76 mph, very straight, slider best breaking pitch, shows sharpness and depth, tends to wrap curveball, soft spin and will hang. Works very quickly, mixes it up and pounds the strike zone. Left handed hitter, tends to open early on swing, pull contact, soft line drives. Good student.
