He is primarily a contact hitter at this point as he lacks the strength to really drive the ball consistently. Behind the plate Billy has a solid transfer and release and just needs to add some arm strength. Billy is a solid student that could attract the attention of a few small colleges.

Billy Shannon is a 2007 C/OF with a 5'10'', 165 lb. frame from Germantown NY, who attends Germantown Central HS. He has a medium athletic build and developing strength. Shannon ran the 60 in 7.43 and threw 66 mph during catching drills with a best pop time of 2.10. He makes up for his lack of pure arm strength with good quickness behind the plate and a fast hands on his release. Shannon is a hustling defender who receives and blocks the ball well. Offensively, Shannon has an upper body rotational swing and a short, line drive swing plane. His lack of lower half involvement keeps him from having any power at present but he made consistent line drive type contact to all fields and showed bat head skills. More strength will help in his offensive development. Shannon is an excellent student.
