Austin Nowers is a 2014 SS/RHP with a 5-8 155 lb. frame from Ames, IA who attends Ames HS. Smaller lean build. 7.23 runner, good hands defensively, stays balanced, can improve working through ground balls, playable arm strength with some carry. Right handed hitter, spread stance, simple repeatable swing mechanics, keeps hands tight and short to the ball, swings hard and creates some bat speed, can reach the gaps, consistent line drive contact, has a good feel for hitting and his physical tools. Also pitched, short quick arm action, high 3/4's arm slot, some effort on release. Low 80's fastball topped out at 82 mph, slurve type breaking ball best pitch, shows good depth and is thrown for strikes, aggressive pitcher, works quickly and attacks hitters. Good student.
