Gerardo Escobar is a 2013 SS/ with a 6-2 172 lb. frame from Rio Grande, PR who attends Caguas Military Academy. Large build, lean and wiry, looks very projectable, good athlete. Ran a 7.12 60 yard. Solid defensive actions, excellent arm strength, a little erratic with throws, potential there for strong middle infield tools. Right-handed hitter, uppercut swing path, short to the baseball, flashes good bat speed, contact approach, makes consistent line drive contact, needs to get lower half more involved, looks to pull the ball. Good offensive upside.

Gerardo Escobar is a 2013 MIF with a 6-2 167 lb. frame from Rio Grande, PR who attends Caguas Military Academy. Long athletic build, very projectable frame, lots of room to fill. Impressed in infield workout. Good hands, sound footwork, smooth transfer, short arm action, good arm strength. If added muscle mass necessitates a move to 3B he has more than adequate arm strength for the position. Rotational swing, showed some bat speed, lets ball get deep. Low hand set causes slight uphill swing path, better hitter with tweaks.
