TJ Roach is a 6'3" 172 pound 2006 right handed pitcher and outfielder from Gilbert, Arizona who attends Higley High School. He has a tall and lean frame that is very projectable. TJ throws from a low three quarter arm slot with a quick arm that is very long. His fastball at 84 mph has very good sink to it and is very heavy which lets him get a lot of ground balls hit to his infielders. His curveball at 68 mph is more like a slurve and is a pitch he can throw for strikes. Roach also throws a split finger fastball at 70 mph that he has a very good feel for and it has good sink as well. His mechanics and good command allow him to deceive the hitters and attack them at the same time. At the plate, TJ has a good swing that shows some good bat speed. He definitely has good power potential in his lofted swing. He starts with an open stance and has an upright narrow base. Overall, Roach is a high level pitching prospect with a very good upside. He is a very good student as well with a 3.85 gpa and a 1340 on his SAT.

T.J. Roach is a 2006 RHP/OF from Gilbert, Arizona, with a 6'3", 178 lb. frame. Roach has long limbs with a projectable body and throws with a loose and long arm. He throws from a 3/4 to low 3/4 release point with good arm side life on his fastball with some sink. Roach is tough on right handed hitters and will break several wood bats in his time. The life on his fastball and present arm strength (83 mph) helped him get all but one out via ground ball or strikeout. Roach allowed only one hit in his three innings with 3 strikeouts. He also mixes in solid secondary pitches, including a nice breaking ball at 66 mph. In the outfield he also shows some present arm strength but could improve immediately by staying behind the ball more. Offensively he hits from an upright and open stance with solid bat speed. Roach loads his hands well and stays balanced throughout his swing with good leverage at contact. Roach is a solid two way prospect who will add velocity as he continues to get stronger. He is a must follow, and is an excellent student.
