Mayernick is a 5-9, 175 lb senior second baseman from Pennsylvania with some present strength. He's a good runner who ran the 60 in 7.09 and shows nice first step quickness on the field. Mayernick threw 62 mph during infield drills and has strong tendency to fall backwards and collapse his back side when he throws instead of working through the ball. His tools might be better suited to the outfield on defense. Mayernick hits out of a crouched, spread stance and has some bat quickness to the ball. He has a short line drive swing and is looking to hit the ball up the middle and to the right side. His speed and approach make him a good candidate to hit at the top of the order. Mayernick is a very good student.

Steve Mayernick is a 2005 outfielder from Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. He has a medium build at 5'9", 165 pounds, with room for added strength as he continues to mature. Mayernick is a right handed hitter with a well balanced stance, and has some bat speed. He uses an inside/out approach, but will turn on an inside fastball. He has a good line drive swing plane that helps Mayernick make consistent contact. He has average hand strength that produces good bat control. Mayernick is also a very strong student.
