Ferguson is a 6-3 senior left handed pitcher from Illinois with a large, athletic frame. He throws from a low 3/4's release point with quick, compact pitching mechanics and always works from the stretch. Ferguson's fastball was consistently 83-84 mph with good running action and his overall strength and arm looseness leads you to believe more velocity might be there. Ferguson's 71 mph curveball was very sharp at times and he does a nice job of getting sharp downer break on the pitch from the lower release point. Left handed hitters must be very uncomfortable hitting against Ferguson and his stuff stands up to right handed hitters very well, too. Ferguson also showed that he was a good hitter for a primary pitcher, with bat speed and solid, consistent contact from the right side of the plate.

Ferguson is a 6-2 left handed junior pitcher from Illinois with a nice athletic body and good present strength. Ferguson has a drop and drive pitching style and a low ¾’s release point. Ferguson hides the ball very well in his delivery and his unusual arm slot creates problems for hitters. His fastball was in the 80-84 mph range and had excellent tailing life. Everything Ferguson threw moved and he probably couldn’t throw a ball straight if he tried. Ferguson’s breaking ball was a 69-70 mph slurve that had good rotation and a sweeping break. He also threw a couple of 68 mph change ups. Ferguson’s tools and skills are well suited for college baseball. Although he had some contact issues, we were also very impressed with Ferguson’s power potential with the bat. He has very good bat speed and some lift in his swing and might be able to develop into a dangerous hitter with some work.
