James Marvel is a 2012 RHP/IF with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Moraga, CA who attends Campolindo HS. Slender athletic build, projects well physically. Fast paced multi-part delivery, gets back turned, quick arm coming through, works quickly between pitches, hyper high energy actions. 88-91 mph fastball, mostly straight, flashes tight curveball spin, short and sharp downer shape, tends to slow arm on curveball. Nice change up with occasional hard sink. Three quality pitches with more consistency and better command. Good overall athlete, has nice flow and balance in the infield, accurate arm. Shows bat speed at the plate with a nice easy swing and quick hands, some lift and gap power. Could have 2-way potential in college. Very good student, verbal commitment to Duke.
