Chris Weed is a 2011 RHP/1B with a 6-1 220 lb. frame from Huntington, WV who attends Cabell Midland HS. Strong stout build. Simple and repeatable side step delivery, good direction to the plate, works quickly and throws lots of strikes. 3 different release pitches for 3 different pitches. Fastball up to 82 mph from extended 3/4's release point, good running action to left handed hitters, straight to RHH's. Shortens arm stroke/tightens release on upper 60's slider with sweeping action, gets over soft CB from high 3/4's release point. Mixes it up well but tips all pitches with release point. Showed nice raw power at the plate, spread stance with loose, extended swing, tends to bail out trying to pull/lift, upper cut swing. Good student.

His slider has good horizontal movement, and also showed an 11/5 curveball that has depth. He has low arm slot from 1B, with good arm strength and hands worked well and fielded cleanly. Big leg kick trigger at the plate, he showed very good contact. His hands are strong and he has power potential. Interesting follow.
