Reece Asbury is a 2006 RHP/OF from Centerville HS in Centerville, OH, with a 6'2'', 205 lb. frame. He has a mature build and very good core strength. Asbury throws from a drop and drive delivery style and has a long, loose arm action. He starts his delivery with a high leg kick and hip turn and is balanced and well paced at all times. He repeats his delivery well. Asbury's fastball topped out at 86 mph with arm side running action. His breaking ball was a 68-70 mph curveball with a big downer break. His change up had good sink and deception. Asbury showed good command of all three of his pitches and looked like he knew how to pitch. He's a solid Division I pitching prospect who has signed to attend Miami (OH). He is also a good student.

Asbury is a plus strong 6-3 right handed pitcher from Ohio with some thickness to his hips and lower half. His upper body is loose and flexible, though. Asbury gets better than average extension out front on his pitches. He pitched at 83-85 mph for three scoreless innings, showing good life and command on his fastball. Asbury rushes his delivery noticeably and would probably throw harder right now if he was able to keep his big body back a little longer. Asbury’s curveball was also a quality pitch at 67-71. Although he might not get to take it to the college level, Asbury is also a threat with the bat and probably hits a ton of home runs with aluminum in his hands. He showed good power and bat speed in batting practice with above average hand quickness and strength. If Asbury could stay back longer and not reach for the ball, much like his delivery problems on the mound, he could be a legit hitting prospect as well. Asbury is a solid student in the classroom, too.
