IF Phil Gnacinski: Gnacinski is a senior second baseman from Wisconsin who played in the Spring League and had a good Showcase performance. This kid is a yard rat who loves to play the game and has solid and polished baseball skills both offensively and defensively. At the plate, Gnacinski has a quick, short swing from a balanced approach and hits consistent line drives to all fields. He’s going to be a high average hitter at the next level. Defensively, Gnacinski is very sure handed and always on balance when he makes plays. Gnacinski also pitched regularly in the Spring League and threw a couple of innings at the Showcase, topping out at 81 mph with his fastball and throwing an effective 68-69 mph slurve with a sharp, late bite. We aren’t aware of Gnacinski signing with any college yet but there are plenty of schools in the Midwest that he could play for and be a very productive player. His best years are ahead of him and he has big time makeup.

Gnacinski is an "04" RHP/Inf from Wisconsin. At 6'0/165 he projects very nicely. He has smooth inf actions and a strong quick arm. He really surprised us with the bat. Nice swing, excellent bat speed, out of a well balanced power position. He smoked several balls and showed power potential. On the mound he threw mid 80s that looked even better. This kid can play and it's real obvious that he loves the game. Some college is going to get a real good player with great makeup. Phil is an excellent student too.

We have seen Phil several times and he keeps growing on us. He plays some infield but his future looks to be on the mound. He throws his fastball in the low 80's from a 3/4 arm slot. He topped at 82 at the sunshine but we have seen him at 84-85 before. He is competitor and loves to battle the hitters. He throws a good curve at 65 with bite and a change at 65. He throws all 3 pitches for strikes and is tough to hit. If he can keep gaining the arm strength he could be a big surprise.

Gnacinski is a pitcher and infielder that we have seen before. At the plate he showed good pop in his bat and has appeared to learn how to hit with wood better over the past year. He has a good glove and made the plays every time we have seen him but we like his pitching ability the best. He pitched in cold, damp weather and still had 80 mph velocity with an easy effort delivery. His curveball was 63-64 and his change-up was in the 60-62 mph range. He showed clean mechanics with a smooth arm action and he was able to spot his fastball well. He has always shown us that he has top notch make-up and this weekend he showed nothing different.

Gnacinski is a 6 foot tall 160 pound junior right-hander from Wisconsin. He has a wiry frame that showed good coordination and lots of fast twitch muscles. He throws slightly across his body and at times showed a short arm, but beyond making those adjustments he demonstrated clean and sharp mechanics. His lean frame projects muscle and strength gains and the good working arm action indicates that he has a chance to improve his pitches. His fastball was mostly 80 mph from a 3/4 arm slot and his curveball sat between 60-63. His curveball spins well now and should get better as he matures. His ability to throw strikes is one of his best pitching assets. When he is not pitching he plays the infield and he shows some hitting ability. His swing is a good one and if he keeps his hands up and is quicker to pull the trigger he will benefit greatly. As just a junior, with his pitching ability he could end up full time on the hill at the college level.
