Punal is a slender 6-2, 165 lb senior left handed pitcher from Florida with a young body and face. He has a short arm stroke from a balanced delivery with some cross body action on his release. His arm works well and he gets nice looseness and extension out front. We saw Punal pitch early in the summer and he was very sharp. He may have thrown a lot this summer because his stuff was off this outing. Punal's fastball was 80-81 mph and mostly up in the zone. Punal's best pitch is a 69-71 mph curveball that often has hard downer bite and can get hitters out even when they know it's coming. Punal's change up is also a nice pitch at 69 mph and a good compliment to his fastball and curveball. When we saw Punal earlier this summer he was 84-85 with a harder and even sharper curveball. Very good follow who projects well and has the tools to get top hitters out. Punal is also an outstanding student.

Nicholas Punal is a 2006 left handed pitcher from Wellington, FL with a lean projectable pitchers build at 6-2, 165 lbs. He pitches from a 3/4 slot with a mechanically sound delivery that shows a lot of effort. His fastball tops at 84 mph with good movement at times. His curveball was his best pitch at 75 mph and shows a very tight 2-8 rotation with good depth and deception. His change is a solid developing pitch at 72 mph with sink action. He has good pitchability on the hill and has good command of 3 pitches. He is a very solid left handed pitching prospect with a bright future and he is a definite follow. Nicholas is an outstanding student.

Punal is a slender and projectable 6-1 junior left hander from Florida. During position drills Punal showed good arm strength from the outfield (83 mph) and ran well also (7.25). Despite his slender frame, Punal’s arm strength and athleticism translated well to the mound. He worked at 80-81 mph with good running life on his fastball. Punal’s curveball was his out pitch. It looks like a knuckle curve at 70-71 mph and it has excellent spin and bite at times and is a real weapon for him. Punal also threw a 68 mph change up. This young southpaw is projectable and already has a college level out pitch in his curveball. If he works hard and gains some strength and bumps his velocity up a bit, he could develop into a very nice left handed prospect. Punal is also a very good student.
