Nelson Perez is a 2005 middle infielder from Puerto Rico with some strength and good quickness in his 5'8" body. Defensively, Perez has very quick hands and classic Latin defensive actions. He profiles best to second base in the future because of his range. Perez’s best tool is his bat. He has a short, quick approach to the ball and has some serious juice in his bat for his size. Perez has the tools to be a nice leadoff hitter and offensive contributor at the next level. Perez also threw an inning at the Showcase, touching 77 mph with his fastball. Can field and hit.

Nelson is '05 SS/3B from Bayamon, Puerto Rico with a lean 5-8/153 lb. frame and strong lively build. He shows good actions for a middle infield position with sure hands and the body life to play there. He is light on his feet with nice anticapation before contact. He is a knowlegable, polished baseball player with a quick release and is an aggressive defender at SS. He knows how to go get a good hop. His arm is 75mph across the infield. At the plate he is a feisty switch hitter with a contact type approach that will put the ball in play and not strike out much. He is a good 2-hole hitter that will steal some bases also and give you the hit and run option. Nelson will be a very good college player. Excellent defensively!
