Mitch Walser is a college OF with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA, who attends Upper Iowa. Walser has a good XL frame. He moves very well for a player of his size running a 6.84-sixty. Shows arm strength from the OF with online carry and very good accuracy. Walser also has the ability to play several positions defensively. His bat is his best tool. He has a short and quick swing and he makes consistent solid line drive contact. He is an aggressive hitter and the ball jumps off his bat when centered. Walser can hit the ball to all fields with authority as well. He is a hard working player who is extremely competitive and coachable.

Mitch Walser is a college 1B with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA, who attends Upper Iowa University. Large frame, had the best BP session by far at the event, hard line drives, in to the wind home runs, ball jumps off his bat, good bat speed, great leverage at contact, raw power, confident hitter, middle of the order run producer, arm strength from 1B *4 mph across inf), accurate throws, moves well around 1B bag. Simply hits good pitching hard consistently. Somebody needs to find out if he can dominate Pro pitching like he has dominated college pitching.

1B Mitch Walser: Walser is a freshman first baseman at Kirkwood JC with good physical strength and overall athletic ability. He took a strong batting practice, lining a couple of balls into the left field stands during batting practice and picking up a couple of hits during the Showcase game. Walser’s good speed (7.09) and good arm strength make him a candidate to play the corner outfield slots as well as first base. He’ll play at Kirkwood again next spring and should make a good middle of the order run producer at any number of Midwest Division 1 schools after junior college. He can hit!

Walser has been a part of the Perfect Game Wood Bat League and we have seen his progress over the past 3 years. In the Midwest showcase, this Senior showed some very interesting ability that all compliment his best tool, his bat, which puts him in any teams starting line-up. He started the day by running a 7.09 in the 60 which is the fastest recorded time we have on him. He plays 1B and displayed a good glove and some fielding ability there. He showed 77 mph arm strength on his throw to 3B and his defensive game will play at the next level. His bat showed some Major League level qualities. He has outstanding hitting ability with a keen eye and power. He had many hits in the games using a short and fast swing with plenty of strength and power for the long ball. His body has gotten better every time we have seen him and his 6 foot 2, 210 pound frame produced some of the hardest hit balls of the weekend.

Walser is an interesting player that we have seen a lot over the past 2 years. He shows Big League hitting ability and power. At 6 foot 2 and 210 he has a thick frame with good upper body strength. He is a first baseman who has shown 7.2 running times in the 60, very playable for big hitting first-basemen. His bat is a special tool that has shown as one of the most deadly versus good pitching in the past year. He has a short and fast swing that connected consistently with a variety of pitches from 90 mph fastballs to sharp breaking stuff. He is short to the ball and shows a relatively simple swing that works for him. The ball comes off his bat real fast (recorded at 91mph in his first AB). He drives the gaps deep and hard routinely. We measured his bat-speed in the 90+ mph range on a laser and he shows that type of bat-speed on most of his swings accounting for the extra base hits. He seems to be on second more than on first. Bottom line is that Walser can hit with some of the top hitters in the Country and has shown division 1 Collegiate impact hitting ability for about a year now. He has committed to Kirkwood C.C.

Walser is a big strong 1B who does a good job defensively and runs fairly well. The thing that sets him apart from many other big strong 1B is his work ethic. The hard work that he has put in has resulted in producing one extremely potent bat. He has a quiet under control approach and a simple easy swing. He also creates plus bat speed that creates excellent power. In Ft Myers he hit a few off the wall in LCF and straight away center. Walser is not the guy that pops out as a high draft pick or top level division one athlete. However, he has proven time and again that he can hit and hit with power against top level pitching. There's no reason to think that he would do anything less at the college level. Division One schools are going to recruit a lot of hitting first baseman that can't hit like Walser. And for sure they're not likely to outwork him. He has made himself into a top level hitter through hard work and a desire to be good.

Walser just keeps getting better. He hits the best pitching consistently with authority. Good power from right center to the left field line. Ball jumps off his bat. Can't get a fastball past him. Strong and keeps his hands inside the ball. He has made giant strides in his running and fielding ability. He outworks the next guy. He will go as far as that bat can take him. So far it just keeps hitting everything in sight.

Mitch has a great attitude and loves to play the game. His best tool is definitely his bat. He can hit with the wood with occasional power. He is a little raw defensively but he works hard and should improve in that area.
