2004 Northwest Top Prospect Showcase
Michael Poage is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Madera, California, with a 6'4", 180 lb. frame and wiry, lean build. He has long arms and legs with plenty of projection. In batting practice, he showed a wide base and good bat speed with some good strength in his swing. Poage shows some nice arm speed on the mound with a loose out front delivery from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a good demeanor on the mound with an idea of how to mix in all three of his pitches. Poage gets some sink on his 80 mph fastball, and shows the ability to hit both corners. He does a nice job of getting his curveball over for strikes. Hitters had trouble hitting off of him during the 3 innings he pitched, as he struck out 8. Poage is a good competitor with projectable velocity on all of his pitches. Michael is an excellent student.
