Max Kwan is a big strong catcher from Bellevue, WA. He has an outstanding big durable athletic body. He features a strong throwing arm and some very good quickness for a big guy. He popped 1.80 in Tropicana Field. His best tool is the bat. Max can hit and he shows big power potential with the wood. He creates Big League bat speed and makes good solid consistent contact. We've seen him before and he just keeps getting better. High level college and MLB draft prospect. Max is a good student.

Kwan is a big, strong, young catcher who we’ve seen a few times in the past year. It looks like he’s made some adjustments to his swing since last October and judging from the results in Fort Myers, they look like they’re working very well, as Kwan had 4 hits in 2 games and hit the ball hard just about every time up against top pitching. Kwan is a front toe tapper who drifts into pitches some but he looked like he was opening up a bit earlier and getting the bat head to the ball a bit quicker. He’s going to hit with big power in the future. Kwan’s defensive skills are solid. His arm strength is big league average and he’s a durable, hustling receiver. Max is a good student who needs to be followed by the top college baseball programs. If he continues to develop he will create a lot of MLB scouting interest before he graduates from high school in 05.

Kwan is a big, strong catcher with a ton of tools. Despite his size, he moves very smoothly behind home plate and shows good agility to each side. Kwan’s compact actions work well with his average to above average MLB arm strength and he was consistently in the 1.93 to 2.00 range on his pop times. He’s going to be a top defensive catching prospect. Kwan’s best tool offensively will be his power. The ball jumps off his bat and he gets good extension to his swing. When he learns how to wait back on the ball with wood instead of drifting towards it, he’ll make some immediate improvement. He appears very athletic and has a chance to be one of the top "05" catchers in the country. Max is a good student.

Kwan is a young 2005 catcher and another very advanced arm in the Sunshine West showcase. He is well ahead of the normal '05 grad in size and strength and it showed here. At 6 foot 3 and 205 pounds he handled himself well behind the plate. He showed a real nice arm with 78 mph velocity and 1.86 and 1.87 pop times. He gets the ball to the bag in a hurry and looked good doing it. He can also hit and hit with power. He showed good bat-speed and good deep power to the warning track on a big field. The only thing he showed his age with was his pitch selection. He wanted to hit everything in every count. He showed us he can do it and it will be fun watching this top prospect in the 2005 class ! Good student.

Big strong body on this "05" catching prospect. Excellent arm strength and some quickness behind the plate. Good receiver with lots of potential. Showed some good hitting ability. Centers on the ball and has very good power potential. Keep a close eye on this kid.
