O'Connell is an "04" OF/RHP. At 5'9/170 he is solid if not real big. He has a nice arm from the outfield. He looked good with the bat, but his swing is a tad bit long. On the mound he threw around 80 mph out of a high 3/4 slot. His arm works well and he even changes his arm angle and drops down at times. His breaking ball showed promise at 66 mph with good rotation. He appears to think well on the mound and relies on finesse and deception. Matt can get hitters to look bad.
