2003 Sunshine West Showcase
At 6 foot 1 and 175 pounds, Bruns has the body of an athlete, well-proportioned and stronger than most his size. He is an outfield prospect with a powerful arm and bat. At the plate he showed a long and powerful swing that drove the ball deep regularly. He took a big rip and got the ball up in the air on every swing. In games he hit the ball well and showed all field hitting ability. As a position player he was versatile and had good actions fielding and throwing. In fact, he threw the ball better than any position player in the showcase. His arm action was smooth and his velocity was clocked at 91 mph from the outfield. He runs well and played the game hard. His throw from the outfield showed lots of life and since he can play nearly every position on the field we were wondering just how good his 91 mph arm with life would look on the hill. Good student.
