Joey Lewis is a 2006 catcher/fisrt baseman from Senoia, GA with a big solid frame at 6-4, 210 lbs. This was his second time at the PG National Showcase and his overall game and skills has developed nicely during the past year. Lewis has a strong, solid build and looks very durable. His size doesn't affect his quickness, as he shifts quickly and has good range on pop ups and balls in front of the plate on defense. Lewis has very good arm strength and a quick transfer that enables him to consistently register pop times in the 1.9 range. Offensively, Lewis hits out of a slightly closed stance with no stride and a rock in load. He has a smooth, easy swing that has nice lift and extension in it. Lewis shows good power potential and can drive the ball hard and deep to the middle of the field. Overall, Lewis is a very polished and skilled young catcher with the type of build and strength scouts are looking for. He is a good student and has signed with Georgia.

Lewis is a 6-3 right handed hitting junior catcher from Georgia with a big frame and good overall strength. We’ve seen Lewis many times before, including at last year’s Perfect Game National Showcase, but this is the best we’ve seen him swing the bat. He has a simple, calm approach at the plate with little wasted motion and uses his strength very well. Lewis hits the ball to all fields and really showed his power to the middle of the field during batting practice. The ball sounded different coming off his bat than all but a few players. During the games Lewis showed the same type of approach and had one nice double down the right field line. He has a chance to be a top level hitter in the future. Defensively, Lewis receives the ball very comfortably and easily and has soft hands. Lewis has solid arm strength and had a 2.18 game pop to get a runner. Very good Prospect!

Joey Lewis is an 06 grad with a big strong 6'3/205 body from Senoia, GA. He features a good strong throwing arm and good agility behind the plate. He has a chance to be one of the better defensive catchers in his class. He can hit as well. He has a flat swing without loft but he smoked some line drives in Tropicana Field. He projects to hit with big power down the road. Joey is an 06 that needs to be on MLB scouts follow lists for next year. The top colleges will want to follow him too.
