Jeremy Weih is a 2006 C with a 6'1'', 195 lb. frame from Wilton IA, who attends Wilton HS. He has a very strong and lively athletic body. Weih ran the 60 in 6.87, excellent for a catcher. During drills he threw 80 mph with a best pop time of 1.96 and put most of his throws on the bag. He has very good arm strength. Weih's overall catching skills continue to mature as he plays the position more and more and he will be able to play multiple other positions at the next level because of his athletic ability. Offensively, Weih showed very good bat speed and the ball jumped when he made solid contact. Weih tends to get pull/loft happy at times and that isn't his best approach. His best contact is to the middle of the field and the gaps when he stays behind and short to the ball. Weih is a good student and very good follow.

We have seen Weih several times, but he continues to improve both offensively and defensively. Behind the plate he has a very strong arm with a good transfer that should control a running game. He has really improved his defense and has sure hands and receives well. He has athleticism and quickness that allow him to easily block balls in the dirt. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with strength and power in his swing. Weih has worked on his approach and stays more balanced and online with his swing. He has plus bat speed with fast hands that will allow him to handle top fastballs. Weih makes consistently hard contact with great leverage at the point of contact. He will hit for power and average at the next level. Weih continues to improve, and he should get attention from pro scouts this spring.

Jeremy Weih is a 2006 catcher from Wilton HS in Iowa, with a 6'0", 195 lb. frame. He's one of the more athletic catcher's in the country, with 6.84 speed in the 60 and a strong and flexible body. He's also played centerfield and third base. Weih's catching skills have improved significantly over the past year, especially with his blocking ability, where his natural athletic ability and quickness take over. Weih has very good arm strength at 78 mph and consistent pop times under 2.00. Offensively, Weih has good balance at the plate with an easy weight shift and some lift in his swing. The ball jumps on contact and Weih showed his pull power with some bullets to left field during BP and the games. He has good hand quickness with the bat and should just keep improving as he sees more and more high quality pitching. Weih is a high level prospect with the physical ability to keep improving for a long time. He has signed with Northern Iowa.

He is a very good receiver with soft hands and solid footwork behind the plate. Weih has a strong arm (80 mph) with good transfers. He has good lateral movement to both sides which helps his blocking skills. He is a right handed hitter with present strength in his swing. Weih has good balance in his swing with an athletic stance and a very short bat path. He has quiet hands with very good bat speed, and gets good leverage at contact. He has very good arm strength (79 mph) with pop times under 2.00. Weih has an accurate arm with good carry, and he has quick feet behind the plate and blocks balls well. He is also a top level hitter. Weih is a right handed hitter with a quick bat and strength in his swing. He has an advanced approach with quiet hands, then explodes on the ball. He has leverage in his swing with good extension through the ball and has huge power potential from a compact swing. Weih starts off with a closed stance that straightens into contact. He has a great understanding of the strike zone and doesn't chase bad pitches. Weih is athletic enough to play the outfield, but we think he should stay behind the plate. He is a must follow that is only going to get better.

Jeremy Weih is a 2006 catcher/outfielder from Wilton, Iowa, with a strong 5'11", 190 lb. frame. Jeremy is an athletic catcher who can hit. Behind the plate he has nice hands, and a plus arm with quick feet that produced several pop times in the 1.90-1.95 range. Weih has above average bat speed, and the ball jumps off his bat. He is very strong and shows present raw power with a wood bat. He has quiet hands, and a good swing path to the ball while keeping his head on. He currently looks like a pull hitter, but his athleticism should help him make the adjustment when facing higher profile pitchers. Weih has a great feel for the strike zone, but he may be a bit too patient. Weih plays hard as demonstrated by him diving for two fly balls when he was playing right field. Weih has a bright future and should be a very good college catcher. He runs very well as well and could easily play the outfield. Possible pro draft if he continues to progress.

C Jeremy Weih: Weih is a sophomore catcher from Iowa and a definite prospect to watch in the 2006 class. He has a live athletic body now with good strength and could get very strong in the future. Weih’s bat stands out for his age, especially the way he handles wood. He has a very simple, balanced approach with no wasted motion and takes his hands short and straight to the ball. Weih showed us power potential while keeping his swing short and under control at the same time. The ball jumps off his bat. Defensively, Weih has some arm strength that’s going to continue to develop and his quick, efficient release (similar to his swing) gave him pop times that were very good for a sophomore. He moves well behind the plate and is a good runner for a young catcher, too.
