Jace Whitmer is a 2006 C/3B with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Marietta GA, who attends Harrison HS. He has a strong and tall build that projects well. Whitmer showed very good arm strength at 79 mph with a best pop time of 2.06. He received the ball well in games and has good blocking skills. Whitmer's best present tools are with the bat. He has a quiet, spread approach at the plate and very good bat speed with a quick, crisp path to the ball. Whitmer showed his power both in batting practice and in games with several long blasts. He handles the wood very well and has advanced leverage at contact. Pitchers would be well advised not to throw Whitmer fastballs on the inside half of the plate, he'll jump on them with authority. Whitmer is a top level college prospect who should get some pro attention as well. He is a very good student off the field.

Whitmer is a 6-2 right handed hitting junior catcher from Georgia. He has a strong lower half and a slender, projectable upper half. Whitmer had a very good showcase and impressed the PG staff. He looked a bit nervous during batting practice but really came on during games. Whitmer showed an advanced ability to hit with his hands and has excellent bat speed at times. He hits from a tall stance with high hands and generates good leverage down through the ball. The ball jumps very well off his bat and he showed gap to gap power potential. Defensively, Whitmer showed some arm strength at 76 mph during drills with a best pop time of 2.09. He stood out in games with his receiving and blocking skills and also with his leadership ability and approach to the game. Whitmer is a young prospect who has very solid tools and skills now and is going to keep getting better. Good follow. Good student.
