James Leslie is a 2008 MIF with a 6'3'', 175 lb. frame from Dallas, TX who attends Trinity Christian Academy. He has a long, rangy and projectable body with a lot of room to fill out. A scout's eyes can be drawn to Leslie a bit because of the position he plays and his size. It stands to reason that as he gets stronger and develops more body control his all-around game will improve leaps and bounds. Offensively he has a chance to develop some power. His hands work and his barrel is long through the zone. There is some length in his swing but it could have just been that he is not quite strong enough to swing wood yet as well as he will someday. Defensively he moved pretty smoothly in the infield, particularly for his height. Leslie is pretty agile and flexible. He showed a solid release and seemed to have some feel. Colleges should stay on him this spring, though he would seem to be the type of player that junior college benefits the most; those that need more physical development time.
