Austin Robson is a 2009 SS/3B/C/P with a 6'0'', 155 lb. frame from League City, TX who attends Clear Creek HS. He has a wiry, lithe body type that we see on many players that eventually develop into really good college prospects. Robson is a versatile ballplayer who showed good ability level all over the field. He is a contact hitter with a quick bat and for the most part a flat, line drive swing. However, there were times he added some lift to that swing. He has an opposite field approach and has a chance to be a good college hitter. Defensively Robson showed good arm strength suitable for the left side of the diamond. His throws tracked well. He stayed low and moved through ground balls. On the mound Robson has a long arm action that works from an over the top slot. His low-80s fastball should sneak at least into the mid-80s by next summer. He kept his 71 mph curveball down in the zone. There is good bend to that pitch. Robson is simply a good young player with developing abilities all over. He is the kind of player that has steadily improved each time a coach/scout sees him. D1 coaches should keep their eyes on him.
