Ryan Joy is a 2010 LHP/OF/1B with a 6'0'', 164 lb. frame from Hartselle, AL who attends Hartselle HS. He has a long, lanky build with projectable strength. He has a multi-part delivery with a long arm takeaway and a high leg kick that he does a good job keeping fluid and balanced. Joy did struggle with his command at times, which might be a function of his complicated delivery. His stuff was solid and very projectable. Joy's fastball topped out at 82 mph from a high 3/4's release point. His jurveball was a bit soft at 63 mph but had very good spin at times and a sharp 12/6 type of bite. Joy's velocity should continue to improve as he gets stronger. Joy also showed some ability at the plate, using a good fundamental swing and quick hands to drive the ball hard. He could develop as a hitter as well. Joy is an excellent student.
