Matthew Brown is a 2009 3B/SS with a 6'1'', 179 lb. frame from San Diego, California, who attends St Augustine High School. Brown has a lean and projectable frame. Defensively he has playable hands on the left side of the infield, and he showed a solid back hand. Brown has a slinging arm action from a low arm slot, and his throws were 76 mph. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an upright stance with an average base and high hands. Brown shows bat speed through the zone, and he is quicker on inside pitches. He takes an aggressive swing, but stays balanced throughout his swing. He is a contact hitter who hits from gap to gap. He has upside at the plate. Brown plays hard, and he is a good student as well.
