Scott Baxter is a 2008 RHP/1B with a 6'4'', 180 lb. frame from Huntington Beach, CA, who attends Ocean View HS. Baxter has a nice frame tat is tall, lean, and projectable. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a slinging arm action. He gets good life on his fastball with sinking actions at times. His fastball topped out at 82 mph, while working in the 77-82 mph range. His change-up is his best secondary pitch, and he also mixes in a 63 mph curveball. Baxter has a good tempo, and he throws strikes. He projects to throw with more velocity as he matures. Defensively he has good actions at first base, and he moves well around the bag. He made some nice plays in game action. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an upright stance. He shows raw power, and the ball jumps off his bat at time. He stays balanced and gets great leverage. Baxter is a good student as well.
