Robert Schlesier is a 2017 3B/RHP/1B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Torrey Pines HS. Large frame with a solid, athletic build. Right handed hitter with tall, balanced stance. Hands load to a deeper position. Extended lower half stride into a wide base. Creates good shift into contact from lower half actions. Compact, line drive swing plane with leverage through extension. Consistently squared contact throughout batting practice using a mid-field approach. Swings with intent and present bat speed to drive the baseball deep into the gaps. Worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth paced footwork while surrounding and funneling the baseball. Baseball comes out of hand cleanly while throwing across from a compact arm slot, topped at 80 mph. Throws produces accurate, on line carry to the bag. Also pitched creating very good downhill plane to the plate. Gets on top of delivery and powers downhill from and overtop arm slot. Fastball generates good plane with sinking action, topped at 81 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape with softer spin and some depth in the mid 60's. Consistently pounded the strike zone with fastball offering. Has a good feel for running fastball under the hands of right handed hitters. Showed a good fastball, curveball mix keeping hitter off balance. Good student as well.
