Carmichael is a 6-2, 210 lb senior left handed pitcher from Pennsylvania with a strong, mature build. He has a long, flowing arm action and a low 3/4's release point that adds some deception to his pitches. Carmichael's delivery is sound, balanced and directional, which enables him to throw consistent strikes and locate his pitches. Carmichael's fastball was in the 75-79 mph range and usually low in the zone. His best pitch was a 66 mph curveball that had good spin and was very effective low in the strike zone to right handed hitters, who tended to reach for it and roll over it for easy ground outs. Carmichael also threw a 71 mph change up that he cut with good effect. He mixed his pitches up well, threw strikes and left with a very low pitch count. Carmichael seems to have confidence in his approach and executes it well. Carmichael is a strong kid who swung the bat pretty well, too. He plays the outfield when not pitching and is a 7.51 runner with 78 mph arm strength. Carmichael showed that he like playing the game when not on the hill with a hustling style of play. He is also a good student.
