The Gold team defeated Columbia Blue 4-0 this afternoon, here are the top performers from that game:

Gold:

RHP/OF/3B Monte Reese (2010, Miller Grove, GA): allowed only one hit over three scoreless innings and struck out four batters. Reese worked his fastball from 86-90mph with good sinking movement and worked a mid 70s curveball that flashed good potential. 

3B/P/OF Adam Moore (2010, Dominion Christian, GA) showed good pop and power potential with a double and two RBIs. Moore's knocked in all the runs that the Gold team needed in their win.

Columbia Blue:

RHP/1B Brady McCarter (2010, Union County, GA) showed good contact skills and an ability to square up the barrell on tough pitches as he collected two singles. McCarter also pitched three innings for the Columbia Blue and showed good presence on the mound. McCarter worked an 82-84mph fastball with a low 70s curve.


Steel vs. Orange >>

The Steel team beat the Orange team 4-2 this morning, here are the top performers from that game.

Steel:
C/P J Michael Weaver (2011, Aquinas, GA): Has a strong athletic body and he showed good pull pop and a smooth swing as he notched a single, double and scored a run.

RHP/2B Taylor Simpson (2011, Lakeview, GA): worked three innings allowing only two hits and no runs. His fastball ranged from 80-84mph with good run and he could spot the corners well with it. Simpson also worked a low 70s curve and a low 70s change with sinking action. 

P/MIF/OF Sean Muller (2012, Centennial, GA): tossed two shut out innings allowing no hits and struck out four. His fastball ranged from 84-86mph with tailing and sinking action. he worked a low 70s curve and a mid to upper 70s change.

Orange:

SS/3B Caden Bailey (2011, South Forsyth, GA) showed good contact skills and good speed as he notched two singles, a stolen base and scored a pair of runs.

3B/IF/OF Tyler Clark (2011, Northlake Christian, LA) has a strong build and squares up the ball well as he notched two singles during game action.

Dark Green:

RHP/OF Taylor Kent (2010, John Carroll Catholic, AL): threw three shutout innings allowing no hits and only one unearned run while fanning two. His fastball ranged from 79-81mph with some good arm side run and a 68-71mph curve with good spin.

Maroon:

RHP/3B Sam Agnew Wieland (2010, Wheeler, GA) threw three shutout innings allowing no hits and striking out four. He located his 85-88mph fastball well and worked in a 74mph slider with good tilt and a 76mph change with good sink.

MIF Sebastian Gomez (2010, American Heritage, FL) showed impressive all around skills, making solid contact and showing good instincts on the bases. Gomez finished with a single a double two runs and a stolen base.
White vs. Red >>

The following are the top performers from the Red 3-0 win over the White this morning.

Red:

RHP/OF Marks Abernathy (2011, Spain Park, AL): Worked three shutout innings of relief, allowing only two hits and striking out six batters. Abernathy showed a clean delivery and a live arm, working his fastball from 83-85mph, good run and sink on his 74mph change and a 10-4 slider from 75-78mph.

OF Connor Betbeze (2011, Kennesaw Mountain, GA): showed good bat speed and some pop notching a single and a double and also scored a run.

White:

RHP/SS Lucas Sims (2012, Brookwood, GA) threw two perfect innings and struck out all six batters he faced. His fastball ranged from 89-90mph with very good downward plane. Sims has a mid 70s curve with excellent late life and an upper 70s change with good sinking action.

Purple vs. Texas Orange >>

Here are the highlights from todays 3-3 tie between the Texas Orange and the Purple.

Texas Orange:

MIF/OF Ranz Bodison (2011, Mauldin, SC): had a perfect 3-3 day at the plate displaying good hitting tools and quick hands with three singles, two stolen bases and an RBI.

MIF/P Alex Barlow (2011, Cincinnati Moeller, OH): threw two innings of scoreless relief and allowed only one hit and notched a strikeout. His fastball ranged from 83-86mph with good arm side run and good downhill tilt. He flashed a tight 10-4 curve in the 69-71mph range and showed a change from 71-74mph.  

Purple:
RHP/3B Michael Bollmer (2012, Bryan Station, KY): fanned three batters in three innings of one run ball to start the game for the Purple. His fastball ranged 80-84mph, with good future projection, and a 10-4 curve that was 65-68mph.

OF/P Matt Spalding (2011, St. Xavier, KY) threw two innings and allowed one unearned run while punching out four. His fastball ranged from 84-88mph and an 11-5 curve from 68-71mph. Spalding showed a power pitchers mentality and went right after each hitter he faced.
Crimson vs. Kelly Green >>

Here are some of the top performances from todays game between the Kelly Green and the Crimson, the Kelly Green won 3-1.

Crimson:
LHP/OF/1B Max Foody: pitched three shutout innings and allowed only two hits. He struck out six of the twelve batters he faced. His 88-90mph fastball showed good late life and he complemented that pitch with a tight 1-7 curve in the mid 70s.

MIF Jordan Shusteric (2010, Allen Park, MI) showed good contact skills and good baserunning instincts as he singled twice, stole a base and scored a run.

Kelly Green:

OF/IF Tanner Smith (2010, North Laurel, KY)  showed good pop and quick hands on a single and a triple with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

SS/OF Addison Russell (2012, Pace, FL) showed very quick hands, very good bat speed and some pop with a single, a double and also notched a stolen base.

RHP/2B/OF Derek Walters (2011, Dothan, AL) allowed no hits over three relief innings and struck out three. Walters fastball ranged from 78-80 and he limited opposing hitters with a mid 60s curve and low 70s change.    
Royal vs. Navy >>

Here are some of the top performances from this mornings game between the Royal and Navy. Navy won the game 4-1.

Navy:

3B/C Andrew Tetrault (2012, Sprayberry, GA) showed a good contact approach to the pull side, hitting two singles and scoring twice.

P/MIF/OF Brandon Pennington (2011, Northwest Rankin, MS) threw three no hit innings while striking out two. His fastball ranged from 81-83mph, while his slider showed out pitch potential with good downward movement and was in the 71-73mph range.

Royal:
IF/P Jackson Campana (2012, Providence, NC) threw three two hit shutout innings and struck out two. His fastball ranged from 83-86mph with some tailing action, he also showed a 73-77mph change which he had a good feel for and a 75-78mph slider.

The following are the top performers from yesterdays game between the Purple and Red teams, the Purple team claimed a 6-0 victory.

Red:

RHP Dalton Mellott (2011, Ohio County, KY) tossed four shutout innings and allowed only three hits and notched a strikeout. Mellott ran his fastball up to 83-85 mph and used an effective three pitch mix with a 75mph change and a 66mph curve as he shut down the Purple hitters.

Purple:
OF/3B Travis Murray (2011, Tates Creek, KY) showed good bat speed, aggressive baserunning instincts and good pop as he hit two triples and a single, scored a run and stole a base.

C/3B Reed Anthes (2011, Lassiter, GA) showed quick hands and a short compact swing as well as good speed and instincts on the bases. Anthes finished three for three with two triples and a single, a run scored and three stolen bases.

RHP RJ Carroll (2011, Lexington Catholic, KY) threw four innings allowing only three hits and no runs. RJ fanned 8 of the 15 batters he faced. He used four pitches to limit the opposing hitters, a 76-78mph fastball, a 64mph curve, a 69mph slider and a 67mph change.

The Kelly Green team defeated the Maroon team 5-3 yesterday afternoon, the following are some of the top performers from that game.

Kelly Green:
RHP Hayden Jordan (2010, Whitewater, GA) pitched two hitless innings while striking out three batters. Jordan showed an 86-88mph fastball from a high 3/4 arm slot with good mechanics and a 10-4 curve with good spin.

OF/1B Patrick Jones (2010, Moeller, OH) had two hits, a single and a triple and scored twice for the Kelly Green. He showed a quick bat with pop as well as good speed and baserunning instincts in the game.

Maroon:
SS/OF Jarmani Conway (2011, Westlake, GA) tripled, scored twice and had an rbi for the Maroon team. Conway showed a smooth swing and good speed during the game.

RHP/OF Brian Gage (2010, Hebron, OH) threw three shutout innings while only allowing two hits and striking out four. Gage showed good deception from his low 3/4 to sidearm delivery and posesses a 78-80mph fastball and an upper 60s curve.

Here are some of the top performers from yesterdays game between the Orange and Navy teams.

Orange:

OF/P Tyler Lynn (2013, Russell County, AL) showed good contact skills and a quick bat going two for three with two singles.

SS/3B Caden Bailey (2011, South Forsyth, GA) showed a pull approach with good pop as he connected on a double to center field and later scored the second run for the Orange.

Navy:

RHP/1B Jonathan Whittington (2011, Lakeside, GA) tossed three no hit shutout relief innings while striking out six batters. His fastball ranged from 79-81mph with good sink and had good feel for his low 70s curve ball.

MIF Nate Ferrell (2011, Pike County, GA) showed a smooth stroke from the left side of the plate as he singled twice and scored the tying run for the Navy.

OF/1B/P Sean Watson (2011, Douglas County, GA) showed good contact ability and good speed as he singled in both of his at bats and stole a base.

The following are some of the top performances broken down team by team from the BP taken earlier today.

Columbia Blue

C/OF Brett Casteel (2011, Russell County, AL) possesses a strong frame, with a pull approach and good hitting tools.

C/P/3B Tyler Padgett (2010, Union Grove, GA) showed some good lift and bat speed. He also flashed good gap to gap pop generated by his aggressive swing.

Crimson

MIF/P Alexander Cruz (2010, Blessed Trinity Catholic, GA) showed good bat speed, and displayed both good balance and extension which generated consistent solid contact.

LHP/OF/1B Max Foody (2012, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) has an athletic build, an aggressive speed which generates bat speed and shows good power potential. 

1B/OF/3B Austen Smith (2010, Pensacola Catholic, FL) showed his strength and power on several impressive swings.

Dark Green

OF/MIF Tommy Ferguson (2010, West Forsyth, GA) showed a good compact swing with good bat speed and extension.

C/3B/P Joshua Wallace (2010, Newnan, GA) has an aggressive swing that shows good bat speed as well as power while maintaining good balance.

Gold

MIF Christopher Triplett (2010, Sandy Creek, GA) is a switch hitter who showed excellent balance, good bat speed and good extension, and was particularly impressive from the right side of the plate.

OF/1B Jack Lester (2010, Martin Luther King, GA) showed good hitting tools, quick hands and a good swing.
 
Kelly Green

SS Nelson Ward (2011, Lassiter, GA) showed good batspeed and an aggressive swing as he squared up the ball consistently.

Maroon

MIF Sebastian Gomez (2010, American Heritage, FL) showed a good approach at the plate and a smooth line drive swing as well as good bat speed.

RHP/C Zach Waters (2010, Etowah, GA) showed good bat speed speed and made solid contact with a line drive swing.

Navy

IF/P Charles Sheffield (2011, Columbus, GA) showed a nice approach, and a sound swing with good extension.

OF Adrian Farris (2011, Collins HIll, GA) has a strong build, quick hands and showed a good swing with good bat speed.

Orange
OF/3B/P Christopher Brown (2012, Chapel Hill, GA) showed a solid gap to gap approach, an aggressive swing and good bat speed that should develop well. 
 
SS/3B Caden Bailey (2011, South Forsyth, GA) showed a good swing with some bat speed and lift on his cuts.

Purple

OF Chase Armstrong (2012, Lexington Catholic, KY) made solid contact, while displaying a good swing with above average bat speed.

Red

OF/1B/3B Taylor Maura (2012, Palm Beach Gardens, FL) showed some bat speed, good lift and good power as the ball jumped off of his bat on several swings.

Royal
IF/P Jackson Campana (2012, Providence, NC) showed good balance, brought his hands through well and showed good pop.

Steel
C/P J Michael Weaver( 2011, Aquinas, GA) showed solid bat speed with some pop and used his lower half well.

Gold Highlights

Christo Jones (2010, Panama City, FL) has a big projectable frame, good arm speed and topped out at 89 mph.

F. Connor Smith (2010 Lafayette, LA) worked his fastball from 85-87mph

Patrick Cosgrove (Marietta, GA) showed a 84 mph sinking fastball

Adam Higgins (2010 Brunswick, GA) showed well with the bat with a opposite field double and a hard line drive single.

Chris Triplett (2010, Fayetteville, GA) showed very well defensively at SS and quick hands with the bat

Andrew Toles (Fayetteville, GA) showed quick hands with the bat.

Brandon Thomasson (2010 Royal Palm Beach, FL) made solid contact each time up including a hard double to left field.

F. Connor Smith (2010 Lafayette, LA) went 2-3 with a 2B and made hard pull contact.

Dark Green Highlights

Josh Hollingsworth (2010, Saraland, AL) worked in the mid 80's with a low 3/4 arm slot. He used both sides of the plate and his fastball had good run.

Cade Medlin (Como, MS), Duane Lord (Old Town, FL) and Josh Wallace Newnan, GA all pitched in the low to mid 80's.

Tommy Ferguson (Cumming, GA) showed very well with the bat. He turned hard on an inside 88 mph fastball with quick hands and doubled to the left field wall.

Paul Patterson (Peachtree City, GA) showed a smooth swing,

Kaleb Kennedy (Pontotoc, MS) doubled for his team.

Columbia Blue

Austin Torrey (2010, Lizella, GA) started the game and didn't allow a run  with a fastball that topped out at 86 mph. He showed a fast arm and the ball comes out well.

Clint Spratlin (2010, Winder, GA) a south paw struck out three in three innings with a 85 mph fastball.

John Skubina (2010, Kennesaw, GA) and Tyler Padgett (2010, Mcdonough, GA) both topped out at 84 mph.

W. Jackson Oliver (2012, LaGrange, GA) smoked a line drive to the opposite field and then tripled in the 7th inning.

Jarret Cook (JC Bevill State) hit the ball hard each time up and also hit a homerun over the LF wall.

Matthew Powell (2010, Dacula, GA) has a huge frame and doubled for the Columbia team.

Crimson

Joey Hedden (2010, Penswala, FL) threw three shutout innings and has a projectable frame and topped out at 83 this outing.

Alex Hegner(2011, Marietta, GA) Has a projectable build and and worked in the mid 80's.

Marsalis Holloway (2010 Fayetteville, GA) was aggressive at the plate and on the bases. the ball comes off his bat well and he showed good speed on the bases.

Alex Cruz (2010 Woodstock, GA) is a very impressive all around player.

Marcos Derkes (2010, San Lorenzon, PR) showed good defensive actions at second base, and is a good fast twitch athlete.

Rico Goldstone (2010 Breiningsville, PA) showed very good speed in the outfield.

Kyle Wren (2010 Peachtree City, GA) showed good speed on the field

Jordan Shusteric (2010 Riverview, MI) showed a nice swing and went 2-2.

The White Team pitching staff impressed in in their first game action.

Joshua Baker (2011, Brooks, GA) did not allow a hit in 3 innings of work striking out four batters.

Sean Murphy(2011, Westbrook, ME) struck out five in 3 innings showcasing a mid 80's fastball, good arm speed with a projectable frame.

Cody Connally (2011, Nashville, TN) dominated with a 86-88mph fastball that comes out easy and kept hitters off balance.

Lucas Sims (2012, Lawrenceville, GA) showed the bat to go with his big arm with a 2B of the CF wall.

Andrew Short (2012, Roswell, GA) 3B down the line.

Texas Orange

Ranz Bodison (2012, Mauldin, SC) showed range in the infield and also doubled.

Daniel Pingola (2011, Roswell, GA) made solid contact and doubled to left center field.

Royal and Steel kicked off the game portion of the Southeast Underclass Showcase. The highlights of the game included.

Royal Team

Stewart Knight (2011, Jacksonville, FL) impressed at the plate going 2-3 with a double to the left center field wall. He squares the ball up well and also smoked a line drive single to centerfield.

Jackson Campona (2012, Charlotte, NC) also hit will with hard line drive contact. Joseph Gregory (2012, Antioch, IL) and Andrew Lockliear (2013, Moncks, SC also showed well with the bat.

Steel Team

Bats that impressed were Kyle Nelson (2011, Jacksonville, FL) Dylan Bosheers, (2011, Lawrenceburg, TN) and Dalton Rogers (Soddy-Daisy, TN).
