The National High School Invitational in Cary, North Carolina brought about some shakeups this week, most notably tournament champion The First Academy (Fla.) who opened the season in the top 50 before falling out after a slow start. By capturing the NHSI championship the Royals vault themselves all the way up to No. 18 this week after taking down four quality opponents to improve to 15-2 on the season.

Harvard-Westlake (Calif.) slips to No. 5 after a 2-2 showing at the Horizon National Invitational in Arizona. They played a lot better than 2-2 would suggest, having lost their first game of the year on a passed ball in extra innings against eventual tournament Champion Horizon (Ariz.) 1-0. For it's run, Horizon jumps into the rankings at No. 25 this week and takes over as Arizona's top ranked representative. The other team that made a big jump in the rankings on the merit of winning a high level tournament in Arizona was Fayetteville (Ark.), who won the Coach Bob National Invitational and climbed 17 spots up to No. 32.

The season opening in many of the cold weather states has caused a lot more movement this week than previous week's have seen. Western Branch (Va.) joins the fray at No. 40 after the team that boasts seven Division I commitments jumped out to a 4-0 start. Defending Washington state champion Puyallup climbs eight spots after a 5-0 start as well.

Other new additions this week include: No. 47 Langham Creek (Texas), No. 49 Bishop Verot (Fla.) and No. 50 Columbia (Miss.)
