University of Connecticut players in OF George Springer, RHP Matt
Barnes and SS Nick Ahmed eventually being picked in the top two
rounds. Five separate high school pitchers in Massachusetts
warranted crosschecking, including Blue Jays first round pick, right
handed pitcher Tyler Beede, who eventually spurned Toronto for
Vanderbilt. In fact, all five of the Massachusetts pitchers passed
on pro ball to go to school.
