The son of 10-year Major League veteran Eli Marrero, Elih, like fellow PG All-Americans Kody Clemens and Nick Shumpert, is a very different athlete than his father. He has a strong and compact build with lots of quick-twitch muscles to go with his strength. He is a polished and intelligent defender behind the plate with quickness and a plus throwing arm, and is also athletic enough to play center field. Marrero is also a switch-hitter with nearly identical bat speed and skills from both sides of the plate.
