RHP Dave Conroy: Conroy took a step forward at the Spring Showcase in early May and took another step forward at the Pre-Draft. Conroy pitched at 88-90 mph with his fastball and it was his third best pitch. His slider was a sharp strikeout pitch at 76-78 mph and Conroy’s change up is a quality pitch as well. This 6-5 right hander has quality stuff and plenty of room to get better in the future. The scouts have definitely taken notice! Conroy has signed to attend University of Iowa.

RHP David Conroy: Conroy is a senior right handed pitcher from Iowa who has signed to attend University of Iowa. At 6-5, 195 lbs, he has a great pitcher’s body and the talent to go with it. Arm strength has never been Conroy’s problem. He was steady 87-88 mph in the first inning at the Showcase and we’ve seen him faster than that in the past. An inconsistent breaking ball and a tendency to leave balls up in the hitting zone have plagued Conroy in the past. Not this time. Conroy has been making some adjustments to his slider and the results were very, very impressive. He threw some 76-78 mph sliders that were quality, nasty big league breaking balls. They just disappeared at the plate and the hitters were helpless. Conroy was like a kid with a new toy and probably even threw too many sliders during his three innings, but they were fun to watch if you didn’t have to hit against them. If he keeps improving over the next couple of years, Conroy could be a very high draft coming out of Iowa.

We've seen Conroy much better than he was in CR. In fact we've seen him touching 89-90 several times in the past. He's a big 6'4/180 athlete with a good fast arm. He has an excellent breaking ball. He should create some interest for next years draft, but he might be worth a small fortune after a solid college career. David is a very good student with the potential to pitch in the big leagues some day.

Conroy is a projectable young pitcher with a nice 6-4, 180 lb body and a loose, fast arm. He threw 85-88 mph in Lincoln with his fastball and showed a nice downward plane to his pitches when he stayed directional to the plate. Conroy’s curveball had good velocity at 74-75 mph and had some late sharpness. Either Conroy’s curveball, or a slider that he should be able to develop, could become an excellent pitch for him in the future. Conroy also showed a 76 mph change up that had some promise. We've seen him touching 90 mph before and he just started pitching seriously within the last year. David is a prospect that could make some giant strides over the next year. He's going to get a lot of interest from colleges, but he could become a big sleeper in next June's draft. He's an excellent student.
