Brooks Pounders is a 2009 3B/P with a 6'5'', 220 lb. frame from Temecula, CA who attends Temecula Valley HS. Brooks has a big country strong build and is a very talented two way prospect. He has always shown a power bat and in the metrodome he showed a big power arm to go with it. He has always been able to pitch but made a huge jump from touching 90 before to now pitching 90-94. He was absolutely dominant in his inning of work with three strike outs of the 3 hitters he faced. His breaking ball and change were very good and he showed excellent command of three pitches. He also showed his big power potential at the plate with good leverage and strength in his swing. The ball flies off his bat when centered. Brooks is a very interesting 2009 for scouting departments to follow. He is a good student and has verbally committed to the USC Trojans. Aflac All American

Brooks Pounders is a 2009 RHP/3B/1B with a 6'5'', 225 lb. frame from Temecula, CA who attends Temecula Valley. Pounders has a big XL frame with a tall body and a thick build. Pounders pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. His arm works well and he pitches with a loose arm action. Pounders uses tall and fall style mechanics and has a smooth delivery. He throws a heavy fastball with down plane on it. Pounders gets extension out front and has good balance through his delivery. He throws a deceptive change-up with good sink and armside run to it. He also throws a 12/6 curveball with tight late break. Pounders throws 3 pitches for strikes. At the plate, Pounders starts with a slightly closed stance and has a smooth swing. He has big time power potential with good present power. Pounders generates very good bat speed with ease and gets good extension in his swing. Defensively, Pounders moves well for his size and has sure hands at the corner IF spots. Pounders is a legit high level two-way prospect with a high ceiling. He is also a good student.

Brooks Pounders is a 2009 P/3B with a 6'5'', 225 lb. frame from Temecula, CA who attends Temecula Valley HS. He was selected as a Top Prospect, primarily as a pitcher. Pounders is a talented young player and at times he flashes the type of ability that suggests a very big future for him. He is a large young man with a big frame and big boned body. His father is a large man too. Pounders has a chance to be a high round professional prospect. He flashes a fastball into the upper-80s though in this event was actually in the 83-86 mph range. We have seen 88-89 before. When he controls his delivery and lets his arm work out front, his stuff is really good. Pounders pitches from an over the top slot and his arm works well. His best pitch is a true slider (78 mph) that at times is a power, put-way pitch, with late darting action. He also has a very good changeup. Pounders' secondary stuff is quite good. As a hitter he has present day power that plays best to the opposite field gap. He has really strong hands and good timing with the bat. Defensively he handles himself well at 3rd base and makes plays within his range, which is somewhat limited. If he were simply a position player Pounders would be a strong D1 follow and would be projected as a power hitting first baseman. However, it is his arm that is going to be his ticket to future opportunities and if he works hard enough Pounders has a chance to be a high round draft pick in 2009.

Brooks Pounders is a 2009 3B/P with a 6'4'', 215 lb. frame from Temecula CA, who attends Temecula Valley HS. He was selected as a Top '09 Prospect at this event. Pounders is one of the more physical and physically gifted players in the '09 class, nationwide. He has a big frame and a strong, full body, looking the part of a future power pitcher or power hitter. Pounders is more than just big. He can play and has feel for the game. On the mound he looks like he is going to be a top tier prospect. Pounders has a good, leveraged arm action that works easily. He has good body control and gets out to nice frontside extension. When working in rhythm Pounders pitches with fastball (87-89, T90 mph) command to both sides of the plate. He can really pound the zone. Pounders has both a true slider (77 mph) with tight spin and late action and a good 12/6ish curveball (71 mph). His change-up is also a good pitch, giving Pounders a full four pitch repertiore. Offensively Pounders has good timing and can hit the ball with power to all fields. He has strong hands and his swing has leverage as he accelerates through the baseball. Defensively Pounders is a surprisingly good 3rd baseman, within his range. He bodies up well and has pretty solid hands, with a strong, accurate arm. He will be followed as a prospect by both the upper levels of D1 baseball and professional baseball very closely.
