Mike Spano is a 2009 C/3B with a 6'0'', 195 lb. frame from Naples FL, who attends Golden Gate. Spano has a medium sized frame with present strength. Defensively, Spano has solid arm strength with carry on his throws to second base. He moves well behind the plate and is a good receiver. At the plate, Spane starts with an open stance and swings with flexed knees. He has an inside out swing and looks to lift the baseball at times. Spano has good hand eye coordination as he makes consistent solid contact. Spano maintains good balance through his swing and looks to pull. He generates bat speed and has some power potential in there. He pulls off some in his swing which limits the number of pitches he can hit with authority to all fields. He will hit for gap to gap pop as he learns to stay on pitches longer in his swing. Spano is a very good student.
