Cornelius McCloskey is a 2008 OF with a 5'11'', 180 lb. frame from Oceanside, CA, who attends El Camino High School. McCloskey has a nice athletic frame with strength in his body. Defensively he moves well in the outfield with fluid actions and shows range. McCloskey gets to the ball quickly and plays it well. He has arm speed on his throws that produces raw arm strength with online carry. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with an aggressive approach. He has bat speed and stays balanced through his swing. McCloskey showed good hands with the ability to hit to all fields. He covers the plate well and battles at each at bat. Once on the bases he shows speed and instincts, and he hustles at all times. His speed, agility, athleticism and instincts give him a very good upside. He is a good student as well.

Cornelius McCloskey is a 2008 right handed hitting outfielder from El Camino HS, residing in Oceanside, CA. He has a 5'11" 175 lb. frame and a strong, athletic build. McCloskey at times flashes ability that suggests he has a D1 career ahead of him. He still needs some polish, but he should be followed closely. His swing is big and aggressive but he does maintain good balance through that swing. McCloskey is a timing hitter, sort of a pitch-hunter and when he is aggressively looking to hit and loaded on time, he is at his best. He does flash some raw power and the ball does leave his bat well. The more he plays and the more he sees good pitching, the better he will be. There are many coaches that would like to have a hitter with his raw ability. As a defensive player McCloskey has a chance to play all three outfield positions. He is an accurate thrower and he gets to the ball in good position to throw. His body control is good and he has speed to help him cut off some balls in the gaps. McCloskey is a player that should be followed closely and checked in on from time to time because he is the type that can make big jumps as a player in a hurry.

Cornelius McCloskey is a 2008 OF/IF with a 5'11'', 175 lb. frame from Oceanside, CA, who attends El Camino HS. Lean and athletic frame with quickness. McCloskey has good speed running a 6.78-sixty and showing good game speed on the bases and in the field. Defensively he moves well in the outfield and showed good range in CF during the showcase games. His arm is loose and easy and threw 81 mph from the outfield. At the plate he hits from the right side with a straight away stance. McCloskey has a quiet approach and takes an aggressive swing and balls in the zone. He has a quick bat that allows him to stay back long. McCloskey's strength and bat speed help generate some raw power. He has great upside to his overall game, and his best days are still ahead of him. McCloskey is a player that must be followed, and he is an excellent student as well.

Cornelius McCloskey is a 2008 OF/IF from El Camino HS, residing in Oceanside, CA, with a 5'10" 170 lb. frame. He has an athletic build, with some present day strength and athleticism that suggest a good future in the game. A right handed hitter, McCloskey shows some strength on offense. At this time (entering his soph year), his top hand is strong in his swing and he works to pull side. McCloskey displays some balance and has some bat speed. His lower half tends to work a bit late causing him to lean his upper body back to stay behind the ball and fight to be on-time. He does flash some pop and as a young hitter, he should be followed. On defense the ball tracks and exits well out of his hand with some carry. McCloskey moves aggressively to the ball and his release has some rhythm to hit. He appears to be well coached in the outfield as he sets up to the ball well and simply appeared to have strong defensive fundamentals and abilities in the workout situation. McCloskey is a young player with innate strength with the bat and some ability on defense. College coaches should follow him and check back next summer to gauge his performance and continued development.
