Joey Barboza is a 2024 SS with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends De La Salle Institute. Medium frame, lean build with plenty of room to fill. Ran a 7.42 second 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, worked out in the infield with athletic and fluid actions, good use of the lower half and footwork to approach the ball, confident with the glove, long arm stroke with developing arm strength that will improve the overall defensive profile as he strengthens. Right-handed hitter, sets up wide with a slightly open stance, athleticism shows in use of the hands, simple stroke to contact on a level swing plane and uses his body well into it, able to turn the barrel over but is still developing feel for the barrel and strength off contact.
