Dejuan Lewis is a 2022 OF/C with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Pearland, TX who attends Shadow Creek HS. Dejuan is a solidly built athlete who shows the quick twitch and fundamental ability that will certainly allow for him to play quite well at his current level and advance up the baseball ladder. He is skilled at a couple of positions and has few rivals in his class as a hitter. In addition to his obvious and noticeable ability on the field, Dejuan is also a very sound student in the classroom. His 7.02 60 yard dash time is very good for his class and is plus average overall. A primary outfielder, Dejuan really shows his athleticism with a glove on his hand. He is quicker than most, getting to the ball. His footwork to transition and throw are sound. His 85 mph throwing velocity is advanced for any player and is especially good for a rising HS junior. His throws show sound carry and consistent accuracy. With the gear on, Dejuan uses his extraordinary athletic skills to perform quite well. He shows a low profile at the ready. His receives the ball well and his consistent footwork allow for a solid transition. His 74 mph throwing velocity allows for his solid 2.02 pop time to play at a high level. Dejuan truly excels with a bat in his hands. He starts with an open stance and closes to hit easily. His timing is exceptional. He shows extremely quick and strong hands. He displays great patience and has an outstanding rhythm in and with his swing operation. He can drive the baseball to just about any part of the field and shows plus pop and emerging power to the gaps. His approach at the plate is far more advanced than many in his class. His bat should always have a place in a line-up. Dejuan has the physicality and strength to impact the game for a long while. He is approaching a point in his career path that will certainly allow him to advance to a higher level should he continue to work at his craft. A gifted athlete and player with a great attitude and work ethic.
