Chris Ramos is a 2007 right hand hitting catcher from East Coweta HS, residing in Newman, GA. Ramos has a physically mature and strong build on his 5'11" 195 lb. frame. He looks the part of a durable, workhorse catcher. Ramos showed enough all-around ability at PG National to suggest a good college future and possibly beyond. His strongest assets with the bat were some present day power and a nice looking swing, good pitch recognition and bat speed. Ramos did a nice job of staying in the middle of the field and not trying to do too much with each pitch. He picks up the ball pretty early but is not overly picky. He showed the ability to cover the plate and get his knocks. He is strong enough to hit the ball out of the yard and on inner half pitches Ramos showed that he can clear his hips and turn on the ball. His barrel can get a bit long through the zone but he gets started on time, making that swing length work for him to stay in the zone. Behind the plate he showed that he has strong hands and can stick a stiff fastball. His arm is average in terms of raw arm strength, as were his pop times in the workout. Ramos does what needs to be done first by a catcher, he catches strikes and keeps them in the zone. He is capable of being a consistent, average type thrower who will get his fair share of runners but his strength will be in receiving and controlling the game at the plate. He ran 4.81 home/1st, with a 7.66 60 yard time.

Chris Ramos is a 2007 C/OF with a 5'11'', 190 lb. frame from Newnan, Georgia, who attends East Coweta High School. He has a strong and durable body that will hold up behind the plate. Defensively he has a strong arm on his throws to second base, and consistently popped times below 2.00 with a best time of 1.92. He receives well with soft hands and is a nice all-around defensive catcher. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a nice approach. He is short and quick to the ball showing good bat speed through the hitting zone. Ramos has good gap to gap power with strong hands and has the ability to be a middle of the order run producer at the next level. He should be able to hit with a good average as well. Ramos is a top level defensive catcher with a power bat. He is a good student as well.

Ramos is a big bodied sophomore catcher from Georgia with strong receiver tools. He has good overall strength, especially in his lower half, but will have to watch his conditioning as he gets older. Ramos hits from a balanced stance with a rock back load and good hand action. He generates very good bat speed through the zone and keeps his hands inside the ball well while showing raw straight away power. Ramos will get out on his front side too quickly at times and has the bat speed and hand quickness where he doesn’t need to be anticipating so much. Defensively, Ramos shows very good arm strength and consistent throwing mechanics. His fundamentals are sound for a young catcher and if he can maintain his lower body life he will continue to develop his defensive game. Ramos is also a very good student.
