Ethan Vernon is a 2008 2B/3B/P with a 5'10'', 135 lb. frame from Killeen, TX, who attends Harker Heights High School. Vernon has a lean, athletic and projectable frame. Defensively he has nice footwork on the infield and gets himself in good position to make all the plays. Vernon has a quick release on his throws that were 73 mph across the diamond. He also showed a nice back hand, and body control on slow rollers. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a closed stance with a wide base. Vernon takes a short stride to open up his hips, and has solid bat speed through the hitting zone. He is a very patient hitter who looks to make contact and put the ball in play. On the mound he throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a deceptive delivery. He gets arm side life on his fastball that topped out at 74 mph, and he mixes in a 67 mph curveball. Vernon allowed only 1 hit in his inning of work.
