Lucas Botero is a 2021 SS/RHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Knoxville, TN who attends Webb School Of Knoxville. Large and athletic frame with nice projection moving forward. Ran a 7.72 second 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, takes long strides to the baseball fielding the ball out in front smoothly, gathers in a high position carrying weight to first base, hands are durable making all plays while can be smoother with additional reps moving forward, average arm strength with carry to the bag, topped out at 75 mph across the diamond. Secondary righthanded pitcher, pitches exclusively from the stretch, stays tall on backside as he comes down the mound, could get more from lower half off of the rubber, compact arm action up to a high 3/4 arm slot, stays online down the mound with hips landing slightly closed, fastball is straight and topped out at 75 mph, could implement an offspeed pitch for added effectiveness. Righthanded hitter, upright and slightly open stance to start, deep hand load with a longer hand path to the baseball, rotational actions to stroke, looks to lift the baseball. Outstanding student.
