Brance Rivera is a 2008 MIF with a 6'3'', 165 lb. frame from Muscatine, IA who attends Muscatine HS. He has a live, lean body that is starting to get stronger. Rivera's increasing strength showed most in his hitting and bat speed, which took a step up from earlier in the year. Rivera has a sound, balanced approach at the plate and has a calm and quick line drive swing. He really squared up well on balls the entire event and was a line drive machine to the middle of the field. Rivera stays back well on breaking balls, keeps his hands under control and hits within himself. We've seen him flash power in the past and this should keep developing as well. Rivera is a 6.69 runner and was consistently 4.28-4.36 to first base, so he's going to beat out some hits as well. Defensively, Rivera has smooth and fluid actions at shortstop. He compensates for average arm strength with a quick and clean release and quick feet charging balls. He has solid middle infield tools. Rivera keeps improving and you love to see that in a young player. He projects very well. Rivera is a very good student, and has made a verbal commitment to TCU.

Brance Rivera is a 2008 MIF with a 6'3'', 165 lb. frame from Muscatine, Iowa, who attends Muscatine High School. Rivera was not able to participate in the workout session due to a prior commitment, but he did play in the game. Rivera is a top 2008 prospect with a projectable body. He is a plus runner who runs in the 6.6-6.7 range. Defensively he moves well at SS with good actions and solid arm strength. At the plate he has a balanced approach with good bat speed through the hitting zone. Rivera has whip action right before he makes contact, and the ball jumps off his bat at times. Rivera is an athletic player with great upside who will just keep getting better as he gets stronger. He is a must national level follow for next year.

Brance Rivera is a 2008 MIF with a 6'3'', 165 lb. frame from Muscatine, IA, who attends Muscatine High School. Rivera is a tall, lean, and athletic player with a projectable body. He has good speed and quickness for a player who is 6'3" running the sixty in 6.70 seconds, and showing speed and quickness on the bases and in the field. Defensively he has good actions with nice footwork and soft hands. Rivera also has arm strength on his throws with more velocity to come in the future. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance and crouches on his back leg slightly. Rivera has bat speed through the hitting zone, and he uses his hands well in his swing. He makes consistently solid contact with projectable power. He did hit a HR in one of the showcase games. Rivera tracks pitchers well with good strike zone awareness. He hustles and plays hard making him a fun player to watch. He has great upside, and he is a good student as well.

Brance Rivera is a 2008 MIF/3B with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from Muscatine IA, who attends Muscatine HS. He has a lean and very projectable athletic body with broad shoulders and a low waist. Rivera is a live bodied athlete with quick actions, very good athletic balance and excellent speed (6.63) that might even improve as he gets stronger. He might not be his listed 6-3 yet but could get there by the time he matures. Defensively, Rivera has a chance to stay at shortstop up through the highest levels. His arm strength is true, he gets rid of the ball quickly from multiple angles with plenty of zip on it. He moves through balls well and has middle infield actions. Softening up his hands is probably the one thing that he can work on the most. Offensively, Rivera has good balance in the box with good loading action. He has very good bat speed and the ball jumps on contact. Rivera has some effort in his swing and might be trying to lift and drive the ball too hard in the showcase environment but he has the bat speed and hitting ability to be an impract hitter and when he gets stronger that power could come pretty easily. Rivera is a top level national prospect who could be really, really good a few years down the road. He is also a very good student.

Brance Rivera is a 2008 MIF/3B with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from Muscatine IA, who attends Muscatine HS. He has an excellent athletic body, with broad shoulders and plenty of strength potential. Rivera is a very good runner. He's light on his feet and moves laterally very well. His 60 time of 6.66 is excellent for a sophomore and he runs the bases aggressively. Rivera's infield actions are solid. He has nice arm strength for his age and a quick release. He's a bit raw fielding the ball but all the tools are there for him to be a middle infielder at the upper levels. Offensively, Rivera hits out of a balanced stance with a short stride and a fast, short line drive swing. He does a good job staying short to the ball and shows the ability to hit it hard to all fields. The power should come for him as he gets older but his present approach is very solid and will build a good base for him. Rivera is a competitor and plays hard at all times, which impressed us. He's a quality athlete with a high ceiling on the baseball field. Rivera is also a good student.
