Darren Welker is a 2020 C/ with a 6-4 175 lb. frame from Surprise, AZ who attends Willow Canyon. Extra large and athletic frame. Ran a 7.92 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Sets up in a higher stance. Receives out front and into a longer arm action in the back. Accurate throws to the bag topping out at 71 MPH and popping a 2.13 during workouts. Also worked out as a secondary first baseman. Clean footwork moving around the bag. Shorter arm action with developing accuracy across the diamond topping out at 74 MPH. Lefthanded hitter with a slightly crouched and slightly open stance. Simple leg lift trigger for timing. Rotational lower half actions into a slightly lifted barrel plane. Middle of the field to pull side approach. Looks to pull to the gap.
