Trey Burd is a 2021 SS/RHP/2B with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Jacksonville, FL who attends Providence HS. Medium frame with longer limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary shortstop with clean, fluid footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange with a high gather. Baseball came out of hand quickly generating some uphill carry to the bag at 71 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an slightly crouched, event stance and large leg lift trigger. Created some linear shift into baseball with lower half. Direct hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Looked to work to the middle of the field but flashed the bat head control to work to all fields. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side at gather. Lands in line with front side and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball produced some downhill plane though the zone in the mid to upper 60's. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with looser spin and some downward depth when staying on top of offering. Consistently looked to challenge the zone with each pitch. Excellent student.
